The Phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. This new Phoenix’s wings have evolved as she has. They don’t sprout in flames from her back or in the form of a Quetzal’s wings, but are exploding from her head (which still adorns the bird skull). The explosion contains the great catastrophic cosmic mystery and represents knowledge and experimentation, the evolution of thought.
